Professional info

I'm studying interior architecture and furniture design in Kymenlaakso University of Applied sciences, Two years ago (January 2013) I begun studying industrial design in the same university, and recently (January 2015) I changed lines to my present position. I am about to finish my studying latest December 2016.

In our line of education, the challenge is to create as ethically pleasing, functional and affordable spaces as possible. Those spaces need furniture with character and usability -  it's not the easiest task and I'm more than excited to tackle it.

Work experience

Designer, Urban Wood Goods, Chicago, USA

2015

My first job as a designer was found as far as United States when Urban Wood Goods hired me to design new furniture for them. Their specialty is making furniture out of reclaimed wood. They collect the wood from old buildings doomed to be demolished. Not only I was thrilled to make something new from something old, but I also felt honored to work with material that is so deeply connected to the history of United States.

Harbour worker, Helsinki City

2012 - 2013

I worked in the West terminal, Helsinki harbour. My work tasks included attaching and de-attaching in-and outgoing cruise ships, controlling the boarding gate, property maintenance and customer service. When I relate the job to my ongoing studies, I find it helping that I got to work with people and the harbour gave me good insight of public spaces.

Travel guide for abroad destinations, TUI plc. / Finnmatkat

2010 - 2012

I worked for 4 seasons in Thailand and Greece as a travel guide. My main tasks were to work at airports, hotels and offices, but also leading tours and helding different kind of events. The work was an ultimate version of customer service, since people are expecting lots of experiences when they are arriving to the travel destination. They are not buying something concrete - that's why it is challenging to show them that this is the best thing you have decided to spent on.

Aside the customer service, I got to work in the middle of fascinating cultures and with the locals. I studied my surroundings and often found myself pondering about the inner workings of airports, hotels and public spaces.
